It is (almost) time for the highly-anticipated Onsite Seminar of Insight China 2016. After the successful Preparatory Seminar in February 2016 where many representatives from sponsoring partners have joined as speakers and where the delegation had the chance to visit three of these partners, the delegation is looking forward to the trip. The delegation of 30 people, including the project team, PR team, students from all study fields, lecturers and supervisor, will take off for Beijing on Thursday, 17 March, 2016.
Beijing
The first days of the delegation’s stay in the capital will be dedicated to the vast and impressive culture of China with tours at the Summer Palace, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, the Great Wall and a tasteful Beijing Duck as well as a homestay.
After the weekend the delegation will head to the first company visits at Credit Suisse, Technopark, and Lenovo as well as pay a visit at the Swiss Embassy in Beijing and meet the Swiss ambassador. Further, the delegation will visit one of the biggest dairy farms in China, Huaxia Dairy Farm, with more than 14’000 cows.
Lanzhou
The delegation then travels to Lanzhou in the center of the country where visits at the Petrochemical College of Vocational Technology and LS Group Co. are scheduled. In addition, the delegation will visit the Digital Dunhuang Grotto.
Shanghai / Suzhou
Next stop is the metropolis of Shanghai for a short stay over weekend while taking in some cultural highlights, such as Yuyuan Gardens, the Bund and French Concession. Afterwards, the delegation will head to close-by Suzhou to visit Insight China’s Gold Sponsor, Endress+Hauser, which supports the project for a long-time already. Further, we also visit the project’s Silver Sponsor, Brugg Cables, which also acts as a long-term partner. After visiting these two companies in Switzerland during the Preparatory Seminar, it will be very rewarding to see another site and learn about differences and challenges.
Hangzhou
The delegation travels to Hangzhou to visit High Fashion HK where we are lucky enough to see cloth production. Furthermore, a tour is scheduled at famous West Lake of Hangzhou which is printed on the 1 Yuan-banknote.
Shanghai
Back in Shanghai, for the first time ever, the Insight China delegation is scheduled to visit the Swiss logistics provider, Kühne+Nagel at the Shanghai Port. Additionally, a visit at Swissnex, a tour at a client of the projects’ Main Joint Partner Blaser and a dinner with the project’s supporter Franke is planned. Again as a new item on the agenda of Insight China, the delegation will visit the impressive campus of Novartis as well as get an insight into the Chinese Futures Exchange.
After an intensive two and a half weeks in China, the entire delegation will return to Switzerland on Sunday, 3 April 2016 with a suitcase full of experiences and newly gained knowledge.
It will be very interesting to see how companies of all different business sectors operate in the Middle Kingdom, if and how the initiative “Made in China 2025” affects their endeavors and what learnings the delegation will take along that makes them more valuable candidates for employers.
On this occasion, we kindly thank our sponsors, partners and supporters for their continued assistance and help to enable ambitious students to take part in Insight China – the pioneer project which runs successfully for 15 years.
